Concept for Tonight is Thursday

The editors and video producers wanted to create a new limited web series where the vibe is similar to when you go to your local bar and discuss current events with your bartender. In a very chill atmosphere, every Thursday the host of the show would come up with a new topic and would casually discuss it with special guests.

Like many news outlets across the globe, Japanese news platforms can be quite harsh and strict. The BuzzFeed Japan news team wanted to create a web show where guests can talk about topics that are often taboo in Japan or are generally ignored and swept under the rug.
