BuzzFeed Kawaii

Updated the BuzzFeed Kawaii logo and created the guidelines for internal and external use.

Slight Improvements

The original BuzzFeed Kawaii logo was fine…but needed an upgrade.

First thing I learnt in Logo Design 101 was to never use a font as is - and the original logo was just that.

Using the original as a base, I created lines and shapes that mimicked the font but with minor tweaks here and there. Hours of kerning adjustments and apex alterartions, I created a slightly more bubbly and symmetrical logo that fitted better with the brand.

With the huge success on Twitter, the next step to elevating the Kawaii brand was to make a web series in which I created a new logo and animated the title sequence.

Sister Account

Roughly two years after the birth of the original BuzzFeed Kawaii Twitter account, the team thought it was best to create a secondary sister account that would target a slightly older, more mature audience: BuzzFeed Kawaii Plus.
